Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.

GameFirms is an ISO certified leading technology solution and service provider company in Bangladesh, focusing primarily on Web, Mobile, XR, and Simulator technologies. We design and develop intelligent, innovative, and sustainable web systems, mobile applications, games, and interactive entertainment experiences across multiple platforms. Established in 2009, we have emerged as significant creators and publishers in the market by launching numerous successful products. We have also become a trusted partner by delivering customized solutions and services to esteemed organizations such as UNICEF Bangladesh, Unicef HQ, Unicef Italy, Robi Axiata Limited, BBC Media Action, the Government of Bangladesh, and the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division. Our client base includes international clients from various countries, including the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, Belarus, and Israel. My role within the organization is to ensure that all team members are aligned with the organizational goals and are progressing in the right direction. I conduct regular weekly and monthly meetings with different team leads to provide solutions to any issues they may encounter and to assess the progress of each project. Additionally, I make it a priority to meet with our recurring clients periodically to understand their concerns and feedback regarding the services we provide.

What is the story behind starting this company?

In 2009, my initial ambition was to establish a game development startup. Inspired by the launch of the iPhone and iPod by Apple, I aimed to capitalize on the emerging Apple App Store platform to develop casual games for iOS users. We began with a small team of enthusiastic developers and artists, all eager to create remarkable experiences for iOS users. Our first game, ‘Tap Tap Ants,’ achieved over 15 million downloads, marking a successful start for us. We continued to release a series of successful games and, after two years, expanded into developing mobile applications across utility, productivity, and entertainment categories. As the Apple App Store and Google Play Store became increasingly competitive, success in publishing mobile apps and games became more challenging. Consequently, we shifted our focus to providing B2B services, and it did not take long for us to find success in that arena, becoming a reliable partner for numerous companies.

What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?

We operate under two business models: project-based and resource hiring. Clients can entrust us with an entire project based on a predetermined budget reflective of the project’s scope. Alternatively, clients have the option to hire resources on a monthly or daily basis for their projects. Each model presents various advantages and disadvantages. When clients opt for a comprehensive project within a fixed budget, alterations during the development phase are limited. We must finalize details during the initial research to adhere to the established budget and timeline. Conversely, when clients hire resources, they maintain the flexibility to modify and oversee project development independently, which may increase overall development costs but offers the advantage of greater adaptability in product development.

How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?

Our differentiation primarily lies in several key areas: a strong customer focus, a commitment to innovation, a long-term perspective, and a drive for operational excellence. When commencing a project, we approach it as if it were our own product, fostering a sense of ownership during the development process. This approach enables us to extract the best efforts from our team while exceeding client expectations within their budget. Establishing long-term relationships with our clients is a cornerstone of our ethos; we prioritize sustainable partnerships over short-term profits. Our core values include: 1. What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?

We primarily serve the UN, NGOs, government agencies, telecommunications, health, e-commerce, education, and entertainment industries. However, we are not limited to these sectors and are open to contributing to any industry where we can leverage our capabilities. Approximately 80% of our clients are repeat customers, a testament to our core values. We have consistently received positive feedback from our clients, many of whom return for project upgrades and new initiatives. On occasion, our clients also act as advocates for GameFirms, referring new customers to us.

Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?

We offer a wide range of services, but our most requested services include app development and game development. Our extensive history of success in the gaming and app industries has established our reputation, resulting in a steady influx of clients. Additionally, we rank highly in Google searches for relevant keywords, generating significant organic leads. However, since the pandemic, we have also seen an increase in inquiries for web-based solutions, particularly within the e-commerce, e-learning, and e-health sectors.

What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?

We pride ourselves on a high customer satisfaction rate. Following project completion, we conduct surveys to gather feedback from our clients. This information is used to evaluate team performance and identify areas for improvement. To address client needs and requirements, we prioritize building friendly relationships with our clients, allowing them to define their needs and submit change requests. We maintain regular communication to update them on our progress through various online platforms. Actively listening to our clients’ pain points enables us to offer tailored solutions that align with their needs, fostering a strong sense of trust and confidence that encourages them to collaborate with us on future projects.

What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?

We provide round-the-clock customer service to our clients, recognizing the importance of being available to promptly address their inquiries or issues. Our dedicated support team monitors multiple channels for client interactions, striving to resolve issues as swiftly as possible. In instances where immediate resolution is not feasible due to technical challenges, we maintain open lines of communication until the issue is resolved.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)

We offer a flexible billing structure, allowing clients multiple payment options. They can choose to pay per feature, per milestone, by phases, monthly, at a fixed cost, in advance, or upon project completion. We do not impose rigid structures on our clients; instead, we engage in discussions to agree upon a mutually beneficial payment arrangement. For larger projects or first-time clients, we may request an advance prior to commitment. Otherwise, we remain adaptable and empower clients to design their preferred billing arrangements.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

Yes, we undertake numerous projects that meet our basic budget requirements. We do not maintain a fixed minimum budget but instead evaluate each project scope to determine the necessary budget for development. We strive to secure projects that yield additional profit. However, we occasionally accept projects with minimal budget requirements, particularly if they align with our goal of enhancing our portfolio within a specific industry or if we aim to develop similar products for a larger market.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?

Project pricing varies significantly based on client needs and specific requirements. The average project price in 2020 was approximately USD 30,000. We accepted several small projects aimed at refining our portfolio and gaining experience without a focus on profit. Conversely, we also managed several large projects that significantly contributed to our company's growth, allowing us to reinvest in the development of our own products across various platforms. Establishing sustainable SaaS products for the future is among our primary objectives, enabling us to reduce dependency on client projects and transition toward a more product-oriented business model.

Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?

Our vision for the next decade involves the establishment of our own SaaS-based products in the market, allowing us to serve a broader client base with reduced effort while transitioning toward a product-centric approach. We aim to create solutions that address the challenges faced by various businesses, enabling us to resell these products directly to multiple clients, with or without necessary customization. This approach allows us to solve more problems for a larger audience, contributing to a better world. We have already commenced our journey in SaaS product development, focusing on creating apps, plugins, and extensions for platforms such as Shopify, Bigcommerce, WordPress, and Magento, targeting the needs of e-commerce business owners. Our goal is to effectively serve over 20 million e-commerce store owners with superior products.
