Kindly share your feedback on how GameFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
Our company page on GameFirms regularly brings us monthly leads (10-15% of the total) and several hundred visits to our website.
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
My name is Oleg Goncharenko, I am the CEO and owner of Kevuru Games, founded in 2011. Kevuru Games is a leading European game art and development studio creating entertainment projects for game publishers. Over the past decade, we have successfully delivered more than 100 projects, including notable titles such as Fortnite (Epic Games), Star Wars (Lucasfilm), BigFarm, and Empire: Age of Knights (Goodgame Studios). Our partnerships include collaboration with some of the world's top 20 digital entertainment companies, such as Electronic Arts, Bandai Namco, and Epic Games. With a workforce of over 300 full-time professionals, Kevuru Games specializes in: full-cycle game development; art creation (2D, AAA); animation (2D, 3D); porting; and QA.
What is the story behind starting this company?
Kevuru Games began its journey with the independent development of casual games for mobile devices. As the studio grew, we started to acquire clients in need of assistance with 2D and 3D game art, co-development, and full-cycle development services. After five years, we fully immersed ourselves in client projects and expanded our expertise to address a wider range of art styles and game genres.
What is your company’s business model – in-house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We operate with an outsourcing model (80%) and an outstaffing approach (20%). In some instances, we collaborate with other contractor companies on co-development projects. Outsourcing involves delegating specific tasks by a client company to a contractor that specializes in those areas. With our varied expertise, we offer clients the option to outsource tasks related to 2D/3D game art, animation, development, porting, and testing. Outstaffing, on the other hand, is a remote employment model wherein the team completing the client's work is legally employed by another company. This arrangement ensures that the outstaffing agency is responsible for employee wages and equipment, while the client issues tasks and assignments.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
Our differentiation lies in several key areas: experience and reputation, having worked in the gaming market for ten years and established a reputation as a creative and professional partner trusted by leading gaming publishers; offering comprehensive 360-degree service lines that encompass all aspects of game development; maintaining transparent processes across all departments, ensuring clients are always informed about project status; adhering to the highest standards of project management with multiple assessment levels; and employing highly qualified specialists, where 60-70% of our workforce consists of senior and mid-level professionals with extensive experience.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
Approximately 80% of our clients are game publishers for whom we develop art and animation or studios with whom we undertake joint projects. More than 60% engage us for additional projects within a year, and over 90% return for new projects within a 2-3 year timeframe.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
The most frequently requested services include the creation of 2D and 3D art for games across various genres and devices. Additionally, our full-cycle game development services, encompassing game design, concept creation, art and animation production, UI/UX design, development, and testing, are also highly sought after.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
We estimate a 90% customer satisfaction rate, with 60% of our clients recommending us to their partners. To ensure we fully understand client requests, we conduct preliminary meetings involving leads and project managers to ask necessary questions and gain a comprehensive project overview. Following this, we provide a detailed estimate. Throughout the project lifecycle, we maintain regular communication with clients to update them on progress and address any emerging concerns. Our project management practices involve internal syncs and engagement from business executives to ensure timely delivery and adjustments to expectations.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
As a non-product company, we do not possess a formally developed support system. However, clients may share their feedback on our collaboration on the GameFirms platform or directly with us for publication on our website.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We provide various interaction models that can be customized to meet client needs. Options include: Fixed price based on detailed project specifications; and Time and Material (T&M), suitable for flexible project execution in cases with evolving requirements. Our operational models include outsourcing managed delivery and offering dedicated teams to complement client infrastructures with full support.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If not, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We prioritize art projects starting at $20,000 and game development projects at $100,000. Costs vary based on project scale, the number of required specialists, art style or game genre, and client timelines.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?
In 2020, our projects ranged from $10,000 for individual artworks to $1,500,000 for comprehensive AAA game development, encompassing everything from art creation to testing over a timeline of 1.5 years.
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
In the next decade, we aim to broaden our range of game development services, emphasizing PC and console development, co-development, porting, consulting, functional QA, localization, and marketing services. Our strategy includes attracting skilled professionals from both local and international markets and fostering a long-term educational initiative for our Unreal Engine team.
