Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Tekrevol LLC is a Silicon Valley startup that specializes in crafting digital products and providing personalized tech solutions for enterprises and entrepreneurs. It is best known for the creative design and seamless development of some of the top-performing mobile apps, web apps, and e-commerce platforms in the market, as well as AR and VR applications. As the CTO and co-founder, my responsibility includes fostering curiosity within my team regarding the latest trends in advanced technologies, facilitating discussions, and organizing think tanks about how we could leverage these to enhance our clients’ projects, occasionally brainstorming on ways to further improve them. We adopt a hands-on approach to leading our team in the office, thus I also oversee the technical production processes and provide guidance and consultations to my team as required.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing an ecommerce app.
The timeframe for developing any application can vary greatly based on the clarity with which one can express and communicate their ideas. For a successful e-commerce app, essential elements include a well-defined application concept, a foundational understanding of the target audience and typical user behavior, and a clear vision of its features and scope, all of which are critical in determining the development timeline.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of an ecommerce app?
Typically, it requires about 8 to 12 weeks to develop both the backend and frontend of an e-commerce app. We usually gain a solid understanding of the project’s timeline during the pre-sales phase by gathering comprehensive information to thoroughly understand the necessary components and features of the application in order to meet the client’s business objectives.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/outsourcing?
We consistently strive to cultivate an optimal environment for our personnel to think critically and creatively while providing them with the necessary tools to practice and experiment with their ideas. I take great pride in our team's talent – our skilled software engineers meticulously focus on every detail, creative mathematicians effectively visualize programs and outcomes, and an exceptionally reliable quality assurance team ensures that everything ultimately comes together seamlessly. We do not outsource our projects, as we have never found it necessary.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
While I acknowledge that other companies offer substantial value propositions regarding their delivered projects, we emphasize leveraging our technological expertise to create positive digital experiences. Our problem-solving approach is ingrained in every facet of our culture, values, and practices, enabling us to deliver high-quality projects on time for our clients to appreciate and enjoy.
What industries do you cater to? Are your clients repetitive?
We serve a diverse array of industries, including but not limited to, travel and tourism, automotive, social services and community building, e-commerce, mobile commerce, real estate, and gaming and entertainment. Approximately 90% of our clients are repeat customers or come through referrals.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for an ecommerce application?
A comprehensive understanding of your target market's behavior, preferences, and motivations is paramount when selecting the appropriate platform. Visualizing the ideal user experience, from each feature and function to aesthetic presentation, significantly aids in defining the best platform for your app. Therefore, it is equally important to evaluate market conditions and stay informed about current products and trends to ensure the selected platform remains relevant to your audience.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Magento, Shopify, Bigcommerce etc) and why?
When a client presents their product idea, we invest considerable time investigating the finer details to determine which platform will perform best. Our preferred platform is Shopify due to its user-friendly interface and convenient cloud architecture. In cases where a project necessitates a more robust platform, we recommend Magento. Additionally, we provide custom solution recommendations for unique project requirements that existing CMS packages cannot meet or when we identify that they would complicate the solution's operation.
Which Content Management System do you prefer to use (Wordpress, Jumla, Drupal etc)?
WordPress is undoubtedly the most user-friendly and manageable option, which ultimately saves our team considerable time and ensures that all internal and client-driven tasks and projects are completed as scheduled.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of an ecommerce application?
The cost generally varies based on the project's complexity, necessary features, and the intricacy of the application's concept. On average, an e-commerce application on both iOS and Android platforms may range from $40,000 to $80,000 depending on these factors.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
Our standard practice is to operate under a fixed price model, wherein clients are billed based on milestones, which usually center around the application's features and functionality. However, we maintain flexibility and often suggest the most suitable model for clients after considering their requirements and preferences.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Yes, we are open to taking on projects that we deem revolutionary and capable of adding significant value to human life, or if collaborating with a particular client presents better future opportunities. The minimum budget we are willing to accept is $25,000, while some of our highest-budget projects have exceeded millions.
What do you think is the future of the ecommerce industry?
The e-commerce industry has been experiencing steady growth over the past few years, and this trend is expected to persist as individuals across all age groups become increasingly comfortable with online purchasing. We have observed a notable rise in the development of e-commerce mobile applications in the past year, and we anticipate that maintaining app responsiveness across all platforms will remain a primary concern. Looking ahead, I believe the integration of AR and VR technologies into this space will be the next significant step, similar to implementations seen in some Walmart stores earlier this year.
