Executive Interview of Teknikali Tech

Please provide your feedback on how GameFirms has contributed to increasing your visibility among potential clients.
GameFirms has significantly boosted our online credibility by validating our technical capabilities and client satisfaction. The platform’s discovery tools and reviews have driven a measurable uptick in quality lead inquiries, particularly from mid-to-large enterprises in East Africa, thanks to their trust in a third-party accreditation.
Please introduce your company and describe your role within the organization.
Teknikali Technologies is a Nairobi-based ICT solutions provider founded in 2023. We specialize in cloud services, custom software (web, mobile, blockchain), cybersecurity, data analytics, DevOps, digital marketing, and game development. As CEO & Founder, I set our strategic vision, manage key client engagement, oversee product and operations teams, and mentor our growing group of in-house and remote engineers.
What inspired the founding of your company, and what is the story behind its inception?
After over a decade of engineering and tech education work in Nairobi, I observed a gap: emerging African businesses lacked affordable yet high-quality ICT partners. In 2023, I launched Teknikali Tech to fill that gap—offering end-to-end solutions that empower startups and enterprises to confidently build and scale their digital presence.
Can you highlight some of the key achievements or milestones your company has accomplished since its inception?
Official launch in 2023 with more than 10 SMB and enterprise clients in the first year. Completed successful security and MVP deployments for regional clients like Choice Hotels. Published over 50 technical articles (DevOps, blockchain, Web3, AI) with recognition across East Africa. Built a 20-member hybrid team with expertise spanning software, game development, cybersecurity, design, and data analytics.
Could you explain your company's business model? Do you primarily operate with an in house team or utilize third party vendors/outsourcing?
Our model blends an in-house core team (~20 staff) with vetted freelancers and remote specialists. This hybrid structure ensures consistent quality and flexibility, allowing us to scale project delivery based on technical needs and timelines.
How does your company differentiate itself from competitors in the industry?
We differentiate through: Broad technical coverage—from enterprise software and cloud to cybersecurity, blockchain, and animation. Thought leadership via high-quality technical content targeted at African tech communities. A tailored, customer-first approach with clear communication and fixed-cost packages designed for regional market conditions.
How would you describe the dynamics within your team, and how do you foster collaboration and teamwork to achieve common goals?
Our team ethos is built on openness, accountability, and mutual support. We use agile methodologies, weekly stand-ups, daily scrums, and cross-functional pair programming. We also host quarterly hackathons to drive creative problem-solving and team bonding.
What measures do you take to support the professional development and growth of your employees? Do you offer training programs or opportunities for skill enhancement?
Yes—our staff benefits from: Monthly internal workshops led by team members. Access to online learning platforms and sponsored certifications. Participation in hackathons, conferences, and community events to sharpen skills and expand networks.
Could you share a notable success story or case study that exemplifies the impact your company has had on a client's business?
One standout case: we built a secure MVP for a regional hospitality brand under stringent time constraints. Through custom dev, cloud deployment, and cybersecurity hardening, the client launched on schedule, exceeding user growth targets by 40% in the first six months, and has become a repeat customer.
What industries do you primarily cater to, and do you have a significant percentage of repeat clients? If so, what is the ratio of repeat clients?
We serve fintech, hospitality, agritech, edtech, and real estate sectors. In 2024, about 60% of our projects came from repeat clients—reflecting strong ongoing trust and long-term engagements.
What initiatives does your company undertake to foster innovation and stay at the forefront of industry trends? Do you invest in research and development projects?
We allocate 10% of billings to R&D. We maintain an active blog, run internal innovation days, and pilot new technologies (e.g., blockchain, AI, DevOps toolchains). We recently prototyped a blockchain-based traceability system for agritech and are testing generative AI assistants for CRM workflows.
Please share some of the most sought-after services that clients approach your company for.
Our top-requested services include: Custom SaaS/web/mobile app development, Cloud deployments and DevOps, Cybersecurity audits and penetration testing, Blockchain solutions for traceability and finance, Data analytics and BI dashboards, Digital marketing, SEO, and branding.
How do you build and maintain strong relationships with your clients, and what mechanisms do you have in place for gathering and acting upon client feedback?
We maintain monthly review meetings, post-launch surveys, and quarterly NPS audits. We also host quarterly performance check-ins and project retrospectives to continually improve delivery and client satisfaction.
How has your company adapted to changes and challenges in the business landscape, and what strategies have you employed to ensure resilience and sustainability?
We’ve adopted agile pricing models, diversified into digital marketing, prioritized cybersecurity services, and launched an e-learning arm to boost revenue stability. During the COVID era, remote operations were quickly adopted, solidifying hybrid practices that continue uninterrupted.
What payment structure do you typically follow when billing clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, or Pay per Milestone?
We typically follow Pay per Milestone. This model aligns budgeting with deliverables and performance, ensuring financial clarity throughout the engagement.
Do you accept projects that meet your basic budget requirements? If yes, what is the minimum budget requirement? If no, what is the minimum budget you have worked with in the past?
Currently, there are no minimum requirements for projects. Our billing is based on the complexity of the project.
Can you provide an overview of the price range (minimum and maximum) of the projects your company worked on in 2024?
Minimum: USD 500 for MVP builds or single-feature apps; Typical range: USD 500–10,000 for full-stack SaaS, cybersecurity engagements, or cloud architectures; Maximum: USD 50,000+ for multi-module enterprise software and ongoing retainers.
What technological capabilities does your company possess, and are there any ongoing or planned investments in technology infrastructure or tools to enhance your services?
At Teknikali Tech, our technological capabilities span the entire digital product development lifecycle—from ideation and infrastructure to deployment, security, and user engagement. Our service categories include custom software development, cloud computing, DevOps, cybersecurity, game development, Web3/Blockchain solutions, data analytics, and digital marketing—and each is backed by specialized tools, frameworks, and infrastructure.
Where do you envision your company in the next 10 years? What are your long-term goals and aspirations for growth and development?
In the next decade, I envision Teknikali Tech as a pan African ICT leader with offices across Africa and the world at large, a large and globally distributed workforce, and a portfolio of proprietary SaaS platforms in agritech, fintech, edtech, enterprise security, and more. We aim to maintain our startup agility, compete regionally, and shape Africa’s digital landscape.
