Executive Interview of Stepico

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
Stepico Games is a game development studio positioned in Europe, dedicated to assisting our clients in delivering comprehensive gaming experiences to end users, while serving as a dependable partner throughout the entire production process. In my capacity as CEO, I am responsible for ensuring that we make informed decisions to continue offering exemplary services to our partners and maintain a welcoming environment for our employees. My role encompasses safeguarding a prosperous future for our company and the products we develop.
What is the story behind starting this company?
The core team at Stepico Games comprises industry veterans with over a decade of experience. Following the launch of our inaugural product in 2014, our team opted to leverage our expertise in the service sector, assisting others in realizing their aspirations of publishing their own games. Consequently, we began a gradual expansion, ultimately establishing Stepico in the late 2010s.
What is your companyâs business modelâin-house team or third-party vendors/ outsourcing?
We prioritize close collaboration and fostering our own talent, thus our operations predominantly rely on in-house teams.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
Stepico Games strongly advocates for a proactive approach, thoroughly analyzing our partners' requirements and providing comprehensive consultation throughout our collaboration. We do not merely fulfill contracted work but actively guide and address our clients' needs.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
At Stepico, our focus is exclusively on video games, iGaming, and gaming/gamification infrastructure. This concentrated approach enables us to deliver services of the highest caliber, resulting in a commendable 35 to 50 percent rate of returning customers.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
Our specialists' expertise and the flexibility of our processes empower us to develop games across various platforms (mobile, PC, and console), as well as execute individual art projects (both 2D and 3D). One of our most frequent requests pertains to custom/full-cycle game development, where we take a client from idea to soft launch and production. We also receive numerous inquiries for blockchain game development, given our portfolio includes top-tier projects in this realm, such as Loaded Lions/Crypto.com, MetaPopit, Guild of Guardians, among others. Additionally, we view trends in LiveOps and game porting as highly promising, as they gain traction in the game development landscape.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customerâs needs and requirements?
We meticulously examine our clients' requirements to ensure that we grasp not only the fundamental aspects of what needs to be delivered but also the underlying reasons and objectives behind the project. This enables us to provide informed advice and consultation, ensuring the successful delivery of solutions.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
We have implemented a multi-tier communication system for client support. Ongoing and recently completed projects receive assistance from our delivery and accounting office, alongside measuring NPS and liaising with top management to document issues and provide support. In addition, we offer per-ticket/email assistance as part of our SLA commitments and remain open to informal support requests via various channels, ensuring our clients always feel prioritized and valued.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We maintain a flexible stance and are open to various payment structures that accommodate our clients' preferences. Fixed costs are the most common; however, we can adapt to many different arrangements.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We are willing to engage with smaller clients, starting from 3k-5k USD for art projects and 15k-20k USD for full-cycle projects. We also offer revenue share models that can effectively lower the project's cost.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2022?
Throughout our tenure in the game development industry, we have undertaken a diverse range of projects, varying in size and technological requirements. The cost of a project is influenced by several specific factors, including the client's concept, intended target audience, genre, overarching theme, and additional stipulations. For the US client segment and their average project scale, pricing ranges from $10k to $1.5m.
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
We are diligently working toward establishing ourselves as a trusted international development partner for major IP holders and aspire to own our own gaming IPs. We are actively exploring new services such as publishing and LiveOps support, aiming to position ourselves as a leader in these emerging niches.
