Executive Interview of Sodio Technologies Pvt Ltd

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
We are a full stack product development company collaborating with startups and enterprises to deliver advanced solutions in the realms of Mobile/Web apps, DLT, SaaS, blockchain applications, and IOT. My role is diverse and dynamic; I lead my team and clients toward success by engaging closely with them throughout the entire process. I am involved with the teams continuously, starting from the presale stage, to drafting the solution architecture, and managing the project through to post-deployment.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The vision has always been to establish a technology powerhouse grounded in certain ethical principles such as collaboration rather than competition, and perpetual innovation for a better future.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
Our business model focuses on in-house and project-oriented research. It revolves around three main KPIs: First, a heavily research-oriented in-house team that explores technologies capable of transforming industries at a 10X or greater scale. Second, we leverage our proof of concepts to develop real-life products while addressing business and technical challenges for our clients. Third, we aim to build relationships with open source communities and leaders in the Web 3 era, as we believe in promoting openness in technology practice and knowledge sharing rather than adhering to the secrecy of traditional companies.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
While I cannot provide concrete proof in writing, allow me to illustrate our approach: We do not charge for consultations. We focus on delivering solution architecture, including wireframes and integrating best technological practices, which often requires additional time to ensure a clear roadmap for the customer. Our intent is not to compete on pricing but to prioritize research-oriented solutions, ensuring that even if we do not secure a prospect, we still add value during the consultation period.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We serve a wide array of major industry verticals, including several emerging ones primarily led by startups. We have developed solutions for clients in sectors such as healthcare, IT, fintech, edutech, tourism, consumer internet, food and beverage, esports, and the on-demand economy, among others. A majority of our customers tend to be repeat clients, as the platforms we create are scalable and most clients choose to work with us again post-deployment due to our flexibility in accommodating changes. I would estimate a 4:1 ratio; for every five customers, four continue to utilize our services for scaling up or extending support. The one that does not repeat is often either an enterprise with a predetermined roadmap for project lifecycle or a startup that has secured substantial funding and opts to develop their own in-house team.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
During the requirement gathering phase, we involve the Developers and Designers assigned to the actual Product Development. This process includes identifying the most time-consuming features and functionalities. We then segment the entire Product Development cycle into Modules, which determines the overall Time frame. Thus, for us, Modules serve as the key parameters in establishing the time frame.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
We recognize that Product Development requires considerable time and extensive R&D during both the design and development phases. A significant investment of time is needed from both teams. On average, we typically complete a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in 30 days, while a fully-fledged product generally requires around 90 days.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
Several factors must be considered when selecting the appropriate platform, including geographical location and budget constraints. Given a choice, I prioritize these parameters as follows: Geographical Location, Technology, User Base, Demand, and Budget Constraints.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
As a company that advocates for both MVP development and achieving product-market fit, we recommend the initial platform based on thorough due diligence regarding the factors mentioned previously.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
Technology is advancing swiftly, and no platform can definitively be labeled as the best. However, if we must choose between Android or iOS, we will base our recommendation on the specific demands of the product or user. In India, we typically recommend launching an Android product over iOS; conversely, in Europe or North America, we would suggest the opposite.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
For us, the primary factors influencing the overall cost are the major functionalities and Modules within the platform. Other elements may not significantly alter the pricing or may be included within the same price range.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We employ a Fixed Cost model, structured in installments. This approach ensures that both parties are safeguarded prior to project initiation. Additionally, we are open to equity arrangements for projects we find compelling.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
There is no minimum budget requirement for projects at GameFirms. We have executed modifications on smaller functionalities with overall costs as low as $150. This strategy has allowed us to connect with many like-minded individuals who subsequently recommend us to others.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2017?
In 2017, our lowest project cost was $500 for minor adjustments to existing platforms, while the highest project cost reached $60,000.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
We recommend the subscription-based business model initially due to its efficacy and convenience for both users and administrators. We advise against starting with an ad-based model, as it may lead to user dissatisfaction.
