Executive Interview of JPLoft

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
JPLoft, an International Web and Mobile App Development Company, has successfully established itself as a leading firm in the mobility sector within a short time frame, also providing services in Game Development, Digital Marketing, and Hosting. With over 10 years of industry experience, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovative technologies such as IoT, Blockchain, FinTech, Salesforce, and more. In addition to our headquarters in India, we have offices in the USA, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, employing a team of over 50 experienced and certified developers/designers. As the CEO of JPLoft Solutions Pvt. Ltd., my primary responsibility is to ensure the satisfaction and well-being of both our clients and employees. This is accomplished through the delivery of high-quality work for our customers and fostering a positive work culture for our team. For me, effective management is crucial as it drives the growth of our business.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The primary motivation for establishing JPLoft Solutions is to promote employee empowerment and demonstrate a 100% commitment to our clients. We prioritize transparency, maintaining regular communication with our clients. Through our offshore development services, we offer unique solutions at competitive and affordable rates, distinguishing ourselves from others in the industry.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We operate with an in-house development team. Each phase of project development and management is handled by a dedicated team of skilled professionals. This includes independent teams of Project Managers, Business Developers, Business Analysts, Programmers (specialized in Android, iOS, and Web), Designers, Digital Marketers, and Quality Analysts dedicated to each project.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
JPLoft emphasizes transparency, with communication being the cornerstone of client satisfaction. We maintain consistent contact with clients during the project, providing updates on every progress step. Clients are encouraged to clear their doubts, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of their perspectives. We regularly provide progress reports and seek feedback, enabling continuous improvement and exceptional results. Our business model is advantageous as we support our clients throughout their business journey. We incorporate SEO benefits to promote their business growth. In our view, a project is deemed complete only when clients achieve the total value they have invested, including interest.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We primarily serve industries such as e-commerce, education, social media, healthcare, location tracking, real estate, IoT, business-oriented, and on-demand services. Yes, we do have a significant number of repeat clients because we view their business growth as a measure of our success. Over 95% of our clients are repeat customers.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
The primary factors that influence the time frame for mobile app development include the scope of work, use cases, functional points, complexity, and specific client requirements.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
Typically, we require 3-5 months to develop both the front end and back end of a mobile app. However, the exact duration largely depends on the complexity of the client's needs.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
Key parameters to consider before selecting a platform for mobile applications include the Client's Budget, Client's requirements, Security (particularly for payment gateways), Geospatial data regarding the user base, and the choice of Database (Cloud or offline). Additionally, factors such as required effort, scalability, reusability, compatibility, and environmental considerations are essential.
Which platform do you suggest your clients begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
We work with both Android and iOS platforms. Therefore, we analyze the key parameters mentioned above to provide guidance on the most suitable platform for our clients.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
The selection of the platform is contingent upon the target market the client aims to reach. We provide recommendations based on a thorough discussion with the client regarding their business requirements while taking into account the critical parameters previously mentioned.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The cost of mobile application development is influenced by several factors including Complexity, Supported platforms (iOS/Android/Windows Phone), Online/offline capabilities, Native/Cross-platform requirements, Universal application considerations, and, importantly, the total number of working hours required by the team.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)
Our payment structure varies based on client requirements. We generally have three predefined models: • Milestone Model: In this approach, we provide a ballpark estimate of time and cost after assessing client requirements. The project's total cost is divided into multiple milestones based on features. Any client-requested amendments during milestones will lead to adjustments in time and costs. • Time & Material Model: This involves allocating one or more team members to projects on a scheduled basis, with clients billed monthly for all services provided, along with weekly and monthly reports. • Dedicated Model: o Model A - Designer/Developer Only: This involves the allocation of a dedicated developer/designer with direct client contact. o Model B - Blended with Offshore Project Manager: This model includes the benefits of Model A plus a Project Manager with over 10 years of expertise to assist and supervise the projects.
Do you take in projects which meet your essential budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
According to our pricing model, we accept projects with a minimum budget requirement of $5000.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
The price range of projects we catered to in 2018 was comparable to the expectations we have from our clients this year.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients, enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
The freemium model is the most popular, offering essential services free of charge while charging for premium services. Additionally, I recommend the following revenue-generating models: 1. Advertising: This model can yield exponential revenue growth over time as it enhances the app's visibility. 2. E-commerce: This model generates dual revenue streams from both manufacturers and buyers. 3. Reference & Sharing: This model helps to expand the user base and provides small benefits that enhance user engagement.
